I wrote this poem while living in Yakima, WA, at 2110 W. Logan Avenue. I was stunned by the resilience of rosebushes, under my meager tutelage, and learned, I thought, something about life in general from the way in which they rebounded from some pretty awful pruning. Hence the poem.
